Accessibility

The Accessible Information Standard was implemented by NHS England in July 2016 – All organisations that provide NHS or adult social care are required to follow the new standard. The aim of the accessible information standard is to make sure that people who have a disability, impairment or sensory loss get information that they can access and understand, and any communication support that they need. Please inform us here at The Ridge Medical Practice of any special requirements that you think we should be aware of for when we need to contact you in the future so that we ensure that you also get the support and understanding that you need.

Portable induction loops are available at all surgeries for patients who are hard of hearing.

Some members of staff have trained in British Sign Language.

All our surgeries have easy, level access and dedicated toilet facilities for disabled patients. If you feel you need extra help when visiting our surgeries, please phone ahead to advise and we will do our utmost to assist you.

Wheelchairs are available at all surgeries.

Help I’m Lost Scheme

The Ridge Medical Practice is a member of the ‘Help I’m Lost’ scheme. The Help I’m Lost Card was launched in 2009 by SNOOP, a group for young people with learning disabilities. The scheme helps people who have a learning disability or communication difficulties. People fill out the back of the card with emergency phone numbers and carry the card with them when they travel around the area. Lots of businesses and Metro who run buses and trains in Bradford have supported the campaign by putting signs in their windows, so if someone gets lost, doesn’t know which bus to catch or doesn’t feel safe, they can show their card to someone in a place with a sticker in window so they can get the support they need.

Speaking your language

We use the services of Enable 2 who can provide us with instant access to a hundreds of interpreters speaking all mainstream and many less common languages on the phone and can also arrange for face to face interpreters to be onsite in person when necessary.
