Practice Health Champions

Practice Health Champions!

Practice Health Champions are patients who volunteer with their GP practice to improve health and wellbeing of patients. They provide Reception Support in the waiting areas to assist Reception Staff and patients at the Ridge Medical Centre in Great Horton most mornings between 9am and 11am, helping patients with the self—arrival screen, finding their way around the building and listening to matters important to you.

 

The Practice Health Champions also bring their knowledge, skills, experience and passion to plan and deliver various wellbeing and healthy activities. These are all listed below.

 

Practice Health Champions offer volunteering and training opportunities, if you wish to join us in becoming Health Champions please contact the Practice.

 

The Wibsey Walkers – Every Monday @ 11am to meet at Wibsey Park gates (Beacon Road entrance).

 

Walking is a great way to keep fit, meet new people and explore your local area. Volunteer led walks by trained Practice Health Champions which lasts about an hour. If you would like company, why not come along and meet others at 11am at Wibsey Park, Beacon Road entrance and get fit or improve your fitness.

 

 

 

Chairobics Group – Every Monday in TR1 AND TR2 at Great Horton @ 1.30pm

 

Chairobics is a gentle, aerobic, sitting down exercise workout class which helps with flexibility, strength and balance. It is ideal for people with limited mobility or physical limitations such as the elderly, people with arthritis and wheelchair users. But anyone of any fitness level or ability can join in as it is a great workout for anyone.

 

 

 

Knit and Natter Group – Every Tuesday afternoon at Ridge in Great Horton

1.30pm – 3.30pm

 

An opportunity to come along and try our exciting Knitting projects while enjoying refreshments and a natter. Or simply bring your own craft projects along. A chance to meet your Practice Health Champions and find out what’s happening at the Ridge.

 

Healthy Eating Group

@ 9.30am -12.30pm

 

Are you interested in learning more about healthy eating? Come along to our Healthy Eating Day with free healthy snacks. You will also get information on keeping your heart healthy and healthy eating on a budget. (See Practice Health Champions noticeboard for details of upcoming dates)

 

 

The Ridge Walkers –Every Thursday meeting at Horton Park gates @ 11am

 

This is a second walking group, in BD7 this time. All walkers are welcome for an hour long walk, meeting at the Horton park gates (Cousen Road entrance)
